South Lake Tahoe, CA Virginia City, NV

The weekend of August 10-12, 2007, Dennis' Sister Denise, Dennis and I took a weekend getaway to South Lake Tahoe, CA along with a side trip to Virginia City, NV. This was Denise's first visit ever to South Lake Tahoe. We took in the gandola ride up the mountain and enjoyed dinner on top of Harris Casino Hotel. The casinos were lively and the water was beautiful. Our side trip to Virigina City was a nice throw back to the old West days in those westerns on TV like Bonanza. We hope you enjoy the pictures and brief write-up about the big trees of Mariposa Grove.

South Lake Tahoe

We arrived at South Lake Tahoe during the first night there and enjoyed some time visiting the casinos. The area was packed with tourists making the best of a beautiful weekend in the high country. We took pictures of various locations we visited during our stay and hope you enjoy them.

The first picture is a view of the two main casinos at South Lake Tahoe Dennis and Dave riding the Gandola.

Dennis and Denise and then Denise and Dave pose at Malcolm's Deck at Heavenly Ski Resort area high above South Lake Tahoe.

The lake was beautiful and the surroundings peaceful.

Virginia City, NV

Virginia City is a fun place to visit. The buildings and the landscape can take one back to the memories of Westerns on TV. Dennis couldn't restrain himself from the candy stores in town. We all managed to get in trouble and found ourselves in jail. I managed to escape getting my head cut off after pleading with the Sheriff. We left town before sundown and kept out of further trouble.
