Tour de Cure
May 5, 2013
Napa, California

This year's participation in the Tour De Cure bicycle ride event was another wonderful experience. I rode the ride of my life with approximately 2,800 of my closest friends in support of the fight against Diabetes. I started the ride with the 80 milers at the mass start at 7:30 am. I route of the ride took me along lushly green vineyards and Napa Valley hillsides in full spring bloom. One could smell the fragrance of roses and lavender. The weather was mild with cloudy skies with temperatures. in the 70's. The pictures below are of the riders starting out on the 100 miler ride that started at 6:30 a.m. Freddie Rodriguez aka "Fast Freddie" was the celebrity rider this year. He rode the 100 mile route and is shown in one of the pictures.

Below are pictures taken at the rest stop mid-way through the ride. The volunteers really made this a great ride.
The finishing riders pictured below. I decided to set a time deadline to be back to the finish of the ride to allow some time to enjoy the festivities. I rode approximately 65 miles and turned in my longest distance and fastest bicycle ride this year.
Finishing the ride at 12:15 p.m.
A tent was at the event promoting the Dogs4Diabetics non-profit organization that trains dogs to be service dogs for Diabetics.
A special thanks those who made donations toward my ride. I raised a total of $1,106.00 for the fight against Diabetes.
